Never Alone
By: sooty15,damien
I sat there, looking at myself in the mirror, despising my reflection. The night sky beamed through my window as I plopped down on my bed. I lifted a heavy sigh off my chest as I looked up my mostly plain ceiling. The room I was accustomed too had a dirty shirt on the floor, a tv in the corner on top of a dresser, my bookcase filled with books I hadn't read in years , while I sighed on my half made bed. My head ached as I thought of how my life had been gong so far.
Life was hard, I was doing my best, but I never thought that I was doing anything good enough. My time was often wasted on stupid problems I dwelled on, as my family members seemed to breeze through life as I stayed in the slow lane. I wanted to be like them, and I cared about them deeply, but I wanted to show them that I belonged in the family. Even though I was the only one who felt like I didn't belong.
I took a deep breath and recalled everything. My life was nothing really special, played video games, did a lot of bmxing in the trails ,had average grades, and a of great friends. My friends were probably the things I was most grateful for. Not all was good though, for at times I felt myself nostalgic while I knew I couldn't be around my friends at all times, everyone had a life after all. The great friends I had would always be there for me, or so I hoped.
I knew that we would always be friends forever, and that would never change, but the amount of time we spent together sadly dwindled down as time when on. I thought about the outside world as my eyes focused on the digital clock. “12:34am.”
By now the world around me was asleep, while I stayed awake. My mind wandered as the painful loneliness started to stab through me. Loneliness, something I hadn't felt since I was four years old…
Without warning, something appeared, something so loud it's presence was made nearly instantly.
A gust of wind blew past me, scaring me beyond belief as I wondered what cause the sudden tempest. I held onto my bed until the gust stopped almost abruptly as it began. The air was now chilled, making me shiver as I quickly pulled the covers around me. My bed sheet inched of my bed as I felt something pulling on it. It was pitch dark in my room and I didn't want to see what was pulling it, but my curiosity got the best of me and I flicked on the lamp next to by bed, illuminating the room.
I cautiously peeked over to see what it was that appeared in my once dark room. My heart stopped, and it felt like it would never pump again, but it eventually did.
“Hmp,” was all it said, and I assumed it was said it to me.
The large scaly head looked down at me as I traced the figure of the long neck all the way to the large body that filled my room. The black scales glistened happily in the light as I looked on with sheer fear. The large horns on top the head nearly pierced my ceiling fan while the long tail coiled next to my door, the only exit. My eyes looked over to the window next to me, as I hoped I could get out that way, but no, the large powerful wings extended, and one of them blocked the window. I was trapped, and there was a large black scaled dragon in my room.
The large yellow eyes stayed fixed on me the whole time as the gigantic reptile slowly reached a large hand out as if he was going to grab me, I watched with fear as I saw the sharp talons get closer.
After taking a deep breath, I was ready, I screamed.
“AHHHGGHHH!!” My mouth shouted almost on it's own.
I would have screamed more but quickly, the dragon's tail wrapped around my mouth, flicking the spaded tip in my face. My mouth muffled, so I attempted to move my hands up to release the grip, but my arms had also been coiled by the tail. The tail felt like a snake as I felt the pressure tighten a little, not hurting me, but scaring me even more. I looked up to the menacing glare, those yellow eyes piercing right through me. The large talon gently rested down next to me as I saw the large jaws slowly open.
“This is it,” I thought, “I'm going to die…”
The dragon's eyes went from a glare to a sort of sorrowful look in my eyes, as she continued to stare at me without blinking.
“You…you forgot me?” The dragon asked sadly with a deep rumbling voice, her eyes looked so sad it was as it his entire worked was crushed around her.
I was confused. First the dragon appears out of thin air, blocks my exits, then wraps me in its tail, only to ask me an odd question. I thought dragons only existed in legends and myths, I liked dragons, but this particular dragon felt too real for me to be dreaming. I got a strange sense as I looked into the sad yellow eyes; something told me I was forgetting something, or rather someone.
I couldn't move my mouth since the tail still held me like a snake held a mouse or some other prey. I moved my head a bit, trying to struggle my way out of the dragon's grasp, but she kept me held in his tail.
“Please…it's me,” The deep yet sad voice said.
I thought long and hard about what was going on. How did this dragon know me? Why was it here? Why did it seem so sad? I didn't know anything; my head ached as I tried to think of what to do.
“Who are you?!” I tried to scream but it came out muffled by the tail.
It was getting a bit harder to breathe as I watched the dragon exhale in disappointment. It's black scales, wings, and talons, even its tail, somehow gave me this feeling of happiness, and safety, as if she was a protector. It finally hit me, and I couldn't have been more happier or confused.
I was able to finally move the tail from my mouth; I had something to say.
“Hobbes?” I asked with confidence, “Is it really you?”
The dragon's eyes lit up again and she smiled at me, showing me her sharp fangs, but more importantly a smile. she squeezed me tightly in his tail, making me yelp a bit in surprise.
“I can't believe it, you remembered!” The dragon known as Hobbes shouted happily, while she gave my face a lick with his long snake-like tongue.
I would have wiped the dragon saliva off my face, but I was too happy to see Hobbes, and my hands were still bound. I remembered the first time I ever saw the large dragon…
The first time I saw her was in my imagination, she was one of my first friends, and I never imagine she was actually real.
“How?” I asked gasping for air as I squeezed harder.
“Simple, I wanted to see you,” Hobbes said as she slowly released grip on me with its tail, gently plopping me down on the bed. “I've missed you friend, I thought you'd want to see me, so here I am!” The dragon smiled as her tail wagged back and forth, still smiling happily.
Before I could get up and give my long time friend a well-deserved pat, her hand reached forward and grabbed me, only to pull me close in a tight warm hug. I laughed happily as I was hugged against the chest scales of my dear friend, whom I only dreamed I'd ever see, never the less hug.
“How did you get here?” I squeaked as the dragon nearly crushed me to death with her hug.
Hobbes laughed a little, shaking me in the process, “I flew,” she said bluntly as he released her hold on me a little, but still keeping me close.
I rolled my eyes as I recalled that whenever I spoke to my no longer imaginary friend in the past she would always say something funny, or nice, she was always like that in my mind.
“Honestly though, I came here for a reason,” he nodded let me sit on her hand like a chair, using her talons to hold onto me gently. “And I think you know why,” she smiled.
“What's that? I'm still surprised you exist,” I said returning the smile.
“Come on, you should know, well anyway here's a hint,” she said showing me his sharp white teeth.
I gulped a bit as I had a vague idea of what he meant, “You're kidding, right?” I asked starting to feel a bit worried.
“Yep that,” Hobbes smiled again, even wider this time.
I started to feel scared, thinking of what a dragon would do to me, and I only had one idea of what he'd do to me. Of course when I was young, I would often day dream that I was playing with Hobbes and then she would eat me to keep me safe or something, but now the only one I needed protection from was well,Hobbes,
Without warning, the large dragon gave me another long wet lick with her snake-like again, making me squirm.
“There was that so bad?” she asked me nuzzling her snout against me.
“That was it?” I sighed in relief, “You always were joking around a lot if I recall,” I laughed a little.
“Well, that was just part of it, I was hoping we could spend time together, just like we used to,” the dragon said happily.
My eyes widened and nearly shouted with excitement, apparently my night was taking a turn for the better. I nodded happily and nearly fell from his hand, but she kept a quick hold on me.
“Whoa, thanks Hobbes, I'd really like that,” I said happily, and feeling very lucky.
“Ok, good,” she smiled back flicked his tongue at me again, but this time she wrapped it around my chest, and gave me a gentle tug.
I felt the warm muscle sort of grab me as I felt myself getting closer to Hobbes mouth.
“Uh Hobbes?” I asked hoping to get an answer, but the dragon simply smiled and opened his massive jaws, stretching them greatly. I looked and saw the rows of razor sharp teeth dripping with warm sticky saliva, the rest of her tongue wiggled like a large fat worm, and the gaping dark throat flexed. Thinking that this time Hobbes was serious, I knew I couldn't fight him off, I also knew that she wouldn't hurt me…or would she? Whenever I spoke with Hobbes before, I was just imaging her, but since she was real I didn't know what the “real” Hobbes would do to me.
Before I could protest, or panic, the dragon slurped her tongue back into the open maw, with me along with it. My legs rested on the sharp teeth as I prayed that the upper jaws wouldn't come down like a guillotine, I shuddered at the thought while the upper jaw seemed to quiver.
I felt the dragon purr happily as she tasted my with this large tongue, licking all over my chest to my waist.
“Please stop!” I sputtered out, while I saw the light slowly fading away, the jaws were closing.
My toes clenched as the pallet of the dragon's mouth was quickly replacing the view of my room that I had, making me take quick steady breaths as I felt my lungs struggling to supply me with oxygen. The teeth were only a few inches apart now, with my legs in the middle. I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the carnage.
Rather than pain, I felt the scaly lips clamp together, holding me tightly and safe from the sharp teeth.Hobbes laughed a little with me still in her mouth up to my thighs, apparently she had an odd sense of humor, and just like the Hobbes I knew.
With another laugh, the dragon slurped my legs into his mouth with the rest of me as if they were strands of pasta. I curled up in mouth as I felt the tongue continue to slobber all over me inside the dark and smelly mouth.
“Mmmmm,” Hobbes moaned happily as his tongue lifted up and slid me further to the throat. I felt the muscle relax a bit until it open and took at hold of me.
The wet throat hugged me tightly as the pulsing throat gripped me and pulled down. My wet body slimed it's way in the throat easily as I felt a talon poking me through the neck scales. Now Hobbes decided she wanted to tease me,or at least annoy me.
With a long wet gulp, the muscles squeezed me in a hug one last time as I slid into the belly of the beast. The warm slimy walls contracted and churned around me in a tight hug. I breathed in the foul stale air, making me cough a little as the wet sack squirmed all over me. Hobbes warm and gentle heartbeat boomed in my ears as she took in a deep breath.
Hobbes laughed and patted the bulge I made in her stomach softly as she belch, “There, he laughed as she licked the flavor off her lips. “Come on, lets go, we have lots of catching up to do,” the dragon smiled as she left my room the same way she entered.
The dragon flew across the night sky wore the full moon as its pendant, with her passenger safety inside.
“Don't forget, even though you can't always see or hear someone, they are there for you always…You are never alone as long as you keep them in your heart,” Hobbes said as I feel asleep within her, knowing damn well that I was never alone.
